Imperial Crane Palace

An emperor once took control of new territory, and sent a team of soothsayers and court advisers to inspect it. They returned with exciting news: the land was unlike any they had ever seen before. Its natural feng shui was in perfect alignment. The emperor had a new palace built in a spot where it could be at the center of the land's chi flow. A few days after construction was complete, clouds and mists began to swirl around the palace walls, completely enveloping it in a miraculous haze. When the mists finally cleared, a flock of cranes were found to have made the palace their new home, to the emperor's great delight. He declared that the cranes were to be left undisturbed on the palace grounds, and hand-carved a plaque to be hung above his bedroom door, which reads, "Imperial Crane Palace".
