/calendar

Admin

An event calendar post that updates itself, with roles to get pinged.

What it does

Posts one tracker message that lists live and upcoming events and edits itself every day.

Creates a role per event. Members press Pick up Reminder Roles under the post to choose which events ping them.

Pings each role on time: MGE and More Than Gems a day ahead so people can save, gem events 12 hours ahead, the rest when they start. It can also create Discord events two days ahead.

When to use it

Once, when you set up the server. After that it runs on its own.

Who

Admins only: members with Administrator, Manage Server or the Bot Admin role.

Where

Any channel the bot can see.

Subcommands

Type the command, then pick one of these. Each has its own options.

/calendar setup

Posts the tracker in a channel and creates the event roles.

  • channel Required channel

    Where the tracker is posted.

  • create_discord_events Required True or False

    Also create Discord events for upcoming calendar events. Needs the Manage Events permission.

  • last_event Optional pick from a list

    The egg or hammer event happening now or next. Set it for a personalized rotation.

  • last_egg_pattern Optional pick from a list

    The gear of that egg event, or of the egg just before that hammer.

/calendar settings

Opens the calendar control panel: tracker channel, events shown, role pings, Discord events and the Egg / Hammer rotation.

/calendar deactivate

Turns the calendar off and deletes the tracker post.

  • delete_roles Optional True or False

    Also delete the event roles.

    Default: No, keep them

Examples

Copy one, paste it in Discord and change the values. Under each is what the bot answers.

/calendar setup channel: #events create_discord_events: True

"Event calendar turned off." The roles stay unless you set delete_roles.

Tips and mistakes

Tips

  • Generic rotation gives one combined Egg / Hammer role. Personalized adds separate Egg and Hammer roles and shows which gear each egg has.
  • Tell members to press Pick up Reminder Roles once. Nobody is pinged for events they did not pick.

Common mistakes

  • Pick both last_event and last_egg_pattern, or neither. One alone is refused.
  • To move the tracker to another channel, run /calendar deactivate first, then setup again.
  • The bot needs Manage Roles to create the roles, and Send Messages and Embed Links in the channel.
