Admin parts

MGE signups: questionnaire, officer review, rankings and the MGE role.

What it does

Posts an MGE signup with an Apply Here! button in the week before every MGE. Members answer a short questionnaire in their own language.

Each application lands in a review thread with Accept and Deny buttons. Officers place accepted players in ranks and edit the points per rank.

Publishing posts the final placements, closes signups and gives the placed players the MGE role. After setup, every MGE posts by itself.

When to use it

Set it up once. After that, use it every MGE to review and publish.

Who can use it

Who

Everyone can apply. Every other part needs an admin, the Bot Admin role or the MGE Admin role. Only server admins set the MGE Admin role.

Where

Any channel the bot can see.

Subcommands

Type the command, then pick one of these. Each has its own options.

/mge setup Admin

Sets up or updates MGE signups.

  • signup_channel Required channel

    Where the signup post with Apply Here! goes.

  • posted_submissions_channel Required channel

    Where the officer review threads go.

  • placement_points Required text

    Points per rank, top first, in millions. Text like Unlimited is allowed. Up to 100 ranks.

  • signup_open_day Required pick from a list

    The day signups open, in the week before the MGE, at 00:00 UTC.

    A .txt file with your MGE rules, under 100 KB.

  • mge_troop_type Optional pick from a list

    Force the troop type.

  • next_mge_date Optional text

    Override the next MGE start, YYYY-MM-DD. Must be a Monday.

  • ping_role Optional role

    Role to ping when signups open.

  • mge_coordinator_role Optional role

    Role tagged on every new application.

/mge settings Admin

Changes the signup day, late signups and the ping role.

/mge questions Admin

Turns questions on or off, adds your own, translates and reorders them.

/mge admin Admin

Sets or clears the MGE Admin role. Server admins only.

/mge deactivate Admin

Turns MGE signups off and keeps your data.

  • wipe_data Optional True or False

    Also delete every MGE post, thread, role and record. Asks to confirm and cannot be undone.

/mge edit Admin

Fills, changes or adds a rank in the current MGE ranking.

  • rank Required number

    Rank number. One past the last spot adds a rank.

  • name Optional text

    In-game name. Empty keeps the current one.

  • points Optional text

    Points in millions or text. Empty keeps them.

/mge manual Admin

Places a member who did not apply. They get the MGE role on publish.

  • member Required member

    The member to place.

  • rank Required number

    Rank number.

  • name Optional text

    In-game name. Empty uses their server name.

  • points Optional text

    Points for this spot.

/mge apply

Apply for the MGE, or see, edit or withdraw your application.

Copy one, paste it in Discord and change the values. Under each is what the bot answers.

/mge questions

A private panel to switch questions on or off, add your own and change their order.

/mge apply

The application form opens, or your own application if you already sent one.

Tips and mistakes

Tips

  • Members do not need /mge apply: the Apply Here! button on the signup post does the same.
  • Leave mge_troop_type empty. The bot follows the MGE calendar and picks the right troop type each time.
  • Download CSV on the rankings post gives you every application in a spreadsheet.

Common mistakes

  • The info file must be a plain .txt file. Save your rules as text, not as a document.
  • The bot needs Send Messages and Embed Links in the signup channel, and Create Public Threads and Send Messages in Threads in the review channel.
  • Publish asks you to type CONFIRM. Until then nobody sees the final list.
