Getting started

Add the bot from your kingdom hub, pick the bot channel, set a Bot Admin role and connect your kingdom.

Before you start

The Discord bot comes with RokHub for your kingdom, next to the kingdom hub. Once your kingdom has RokHub, everything below takes about ten minutes.

You need Manage Server (or Administrator) in your kingdom's Discord server to add the bot and change its settings.

Add the bot to your server

  1. 1

Open your kingdom hub at kingdom.rokhub.app followed by your kingdom number, for example kingdom.rokhub.app/4043, and sign in with Discord.

  2. 2

Open the Discord Bot tab at the top.

  3. 3

Under "Add the bot to more", find your server and press Add the bot. Discord asks you to confirm: keep every permission it asks for, so all features work.

  4. 4

Back in the hub, press Refresh. Your server now shows "Bot added".

  5. 5

Pick your server. The first time leadership picks it, the server is linked to your kingdom. That link is what makes /stats, /seed, /title and the KvK alerts work.

Already linked a different server by mistake? Change the Discord server ID in the kingdom settings of the hub.

Pick the bot channel

Lookup commands like /commander, /pairings, /timer and /event stay silent until you pick where they may run. This keeps them out of your main chat.

  1. 1

Create a channel such as #bot-commands, or use one you have.

  2. 2

Run /channel add group: All Commands channel: #bot-commands.

  3. 3

Optional: give KvK Commands or Meta Lineups their own channel too.

Set a Bot Admin role

Server admins can always manage the bot. Officers who do not have Manage Server need the Bot Admin role.

  1. 1

Run /config admin-role role: @Officers (or your leadership role).

  2. 2

Discord hides admin commands from members without Manage Server. In Server Settings, Integrations, RokHub, allow that role too, so officers see the commands in the list.

Log channel and language

  1. 1

Run /config log-channel channel: #bot-logs. The bot reports lost permissions and deleted channels there.

  2. 2

Run /config language if your server talks another language. Posts for everyone switch to it. Replies to one person follow that person's own Discord language.

The dashboard

Every setting is also in the Discord Bot tab of your kingdom hub: Server setup, Event calendar, Reminders, KvK tools, MGE applications, Verification, Leadership board and Server builder.

Settings you change there and settings you change with commands are the same settings.

Check that it works

  1. 1

Run /help. You should see every command, with the admin ones marked with a lock.

  2. 2

Run /stats governor: your governor ID. You should get a stats card.

  3. 3

Run /commander name: Achilles in your bot channel.

Next, set up verification so /stats and /title know who everyone is.
